Gemma Williams, Alexander Technique teacher and movement coach.

I have been teaching Alexander Technique for over twenty years and am continually learning about the many aspects of the body, mind and spirit.  It is my passion.

For many, Alexander Technique improves posture and for some it provides a pain free life.  Lessons are tailored to you, either one on one or as a group workshop.  As a registered member of STAT (Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique) I am fully insured and DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checked.

I live in the beautiful Tamar Valley with my husband Jon and our two dogs. Our life is a rural one, in which we spend as much time as possible outside. In 2021 we were lucky enough to be able to plant a small broadleaf woodland, fulfilling a life long ambition. I honestly thought that it would be harder than it was!   Our next project is to create a huge pond, to increase species diversity within our environment.

I qualified as a teacher from Brighton College, one of England’s leading Alexander schools.  Using these principles, I help my clients be aware of and wake-up their bodies.  I combine this with energy healing and embodied mindfulness, which benefits mind, body, soul and our day to day life.

Knowing how to be present in our body begins with learning to be conscious of our body.  A Shaman would say it’s about ‘Singing your soul back home… bringing your spirit into your body, so you feel safe and at home, as you meander your way around the twists and turns of life’.

The energy of presence permeates to everyone, this is something we can all achieve – with just a little perseverance and kindness.

My passion for embodied mindfulness not only enhances my life, it increases my knowledge of who I am.  I have been practising Scaravelli style yoga for over fifteen years and find it a perfect companion to Alexander Technique.

I feel very fortunate to have found a career in which I am able to facilitate life changing experiencesWe are born with our body, a magnificent machine, however we are not given a user manual.  The work of Frederick Matthias Alexander is a great user manual!

The Alexander Technique teaches improved posture and movement, which is believed to help reduce and prevent problems caused by unhelpful habits.
